WHAT CHANGED ON OCTOBER 12, 2026
  • The app is now called UTL Twenty™, “Twenty” for short (formerly TEN:20 and TenTwenty). Nothing about your data changed with the name.
  • From October 11: Twenty no longer sends your location to OpenStreetMap's Overpass service. Cross streets and exits now come from road files kept on your phone.
  • From October 11: added downloading those road files, CarPlay voice search, saved places, and RevenueCat, the service that manages subscriptions.
THE SHORT VERSION

Twenty has no accounts, runs no analytics or ad tracking, and has no server that stores your location or your shift recordings. Your block, street and cross streets are worked out on your phone. Everything that does leave your device, and exactly who it goes to, is listed below.

LOCATION DATA

Twenty uses your device's location, while the app is in use, to show your current street, block number, cross street, direction of travel, and position on the map. This is the app's core function and can only be disabled by turning off location access entirely (Settings app → Privacy & Security → Location Services).

Your location is used in two ways:

  • On your device. Block numbers, cross streets, highway exits and mile markers are worked out on your phone from road files stored on it (see “Offline road data”), along with heading, speed and the map display. None of this leaves your phone.
  • Apple's mapping services. Twenty uses Apple's MapKit for the map, address lookup, destination search and turn-by-turn navigation. When you search for a destination, by typing or by voice, the words you search for go to Apple's search. This is governed by Apple's own privacy policy, and we never see or store the results.

OFFLINE ROAD DATA

The road files that let Twenty work without a signal are downloaded from our road-data server, roads.utl.dev, hosted on Cloudflare. When you add a county, the app downloads that county's file; while the app is open it also checks the server's list of files for updates (at launch and every six hours). These requests name the files, not your location. Like any web request, the server receives your device's IP address.

The road files are built from public data: the U.S. Census Bureau's TIGER/Line roads, the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Address Database, and OpenStreetMap.

CARPLAY VOICE SEARCH

In CarPlay, “Say where to” uses your iPhone's microphone only after you tap it, and only until it hears where you want to go. Where your iPhone supports it, your speech is turned into text on the phone itself; otherwise Apple's speech recognition does it, under Apple's privacy policy. The words then go to Apple's search as above. We never receive the audio or the text.

SAVED PLACES AND RECENT DESTINATIONS

Saved places (such as your station or the jail) and your recent destinations are kept only on your device.

SHIFT RECORDINGS AND EXPORTS

If you use Twenty's recording feature, the GPS track, timestamps, and any notes are saved only on your device. We never receive a copy, and there is no cloud backup: delete the app or lose your phone, and that recording is gone unless you exported it first.

Exporting a PDF or CSV report uses your phone's normal share sheet: email, AirDrop, your department's system, wherever you choose to send it. That's your data at that point; Twenty and UTL never see it.

NAVIGATION VOICE

Spoken directions are generated on your iPhone. No text or audio is sent anywhere to produce them.

APPLE WATCH, LOCK SCREEN AND CARPLAY

Your current block, road, GPS status and heading are shown on your paired Apple Watch, your Lock Screen and in CarPlay directly from your iPhone. The Watch is updated over Apple's WatchConnectivity framework, a direct device-to-device connection that never touches a server, ours or anyone else's.

SIRI AND HANDS-FREE COMMANDS

Siri commands and the Action Button are handled by Apple's App Intents system. We never receive a transcript, recording, or log of what you asked.

ACCOUNTS

Twenty has no user accounts. We don't collect your name, email, or any identifying information as part of using the app.

SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PAYMENT

Twenty subscriptions are billed and processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment card details.

To know whether your subscription is active, Twenty uses RevenueCat, a third-party subscription service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier the app creates and your App Store transaction information (which subscription, when it started and renews). It does not receive your name, email or location. See RevenueCat's privacy policy and Apple's.

ANALYTICS AND ADVERTISING

Twenty contains no analytics software, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party tracking of any kind. The only third-party software in the app that talks to a server is RevenueCat, for subscriptions only. We have no way to see how you use the app beyond what's described above.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Twenty is a professional tool built for law enforcement officers and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date at the top. A material change, anything that changes what data we collect or how it's used, will be called out clearly at the top, as above.
