PRIVACY POLICY
Deployed
What Deployed does with your information — training records, cloud sync, and training groups, in full.
Deployed works entirely on your phone, and signing in is optional. If you never sign in, nothing you record ever leaves your device. If you do sign in, your records are copied to our cloud — that's what makes training groups and backup possible — and you can delete your account at any time. We don't sell your data, and there's no advertising or tracking of any kind.
INFORMATION YOU PUT INTO THE APP
You control everything Deployed stores, by entering it yourself:
- Handler and agency information — name, badge number, agency, rank
- K9 profile information — name, breed, dates, medical and vaccination history
- Training records — exercises, scores, narratives, GPS tracks you record
- Deployment records — case numbers, locations, outcomes, narratives, GPS paths you record
- Certifications and equipment records
- Photos you add — a K9 avatar or cover photo, or documents and images attached to a record
- An email address, only if you choose to create an account
LOCATION DATA
Deployed uses your device's location only for features you actively use: recording a GPS track or deployment path, showing your current heading and coordinates during an active deployment, and geocoding an address you enter for the deployment map. Location data is stored as part of your records — on your device, and in your cloud backup if you're signed in.
When you tap “Use current location & weather,” your coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo, a third-party weather provider, solely to fetch current conditions for that record. Nothing else is sent with that request — not your name, agency, or any record content.
WHERE YOUR DATA LIVES
Every record you create is stored on your device first, using Apple's on-device data storage. The app is fully usable that way and never requires an account.
If you don't sign in: nothing you record leaves your phone, apart from the weather lookup above. If you delete a record, or delete the app, it's gone — we have no copy.
If you do sign in: your records are also copied to our cloud, which is what makes training groups possible and what a future restore feature will be built on. That includes every record type listed above — K9 profile, training sessions and exercises, deployments, certifications, medical and vaccination records, medications, equipment, documents, narrative templates, and any photos or files you attach — along with the GPS tracks and paths stored in them.
The app does not currently restore those records onto a new device. If you replace or wipe your phone, use Export to keep your own copy — don't rely on the cloud copy to bring your K9's history back.
We use Supabase as our database and file-storage provider. Access is restricted so that one handler's records can't be read by another. We can access the database because we operate it, but only as needed to run, back up, troubleshoot, and secure the service — not to browse your records, and never to sell or share them. To create an account you give us an email address; we send your sign-in code through Resend, our email delivery provider, which handles that message on our behalf.
TRAINING GROUPS
Training groups are shared by design, so some information is visible to other handlers in a group you join:
- Your handler name and your role in the group (member or admin) appear on the group's roster
- Sessions, schedules, and training plans published to the group are readable by every member
- If you're invited by email, the email address used to invite you is stored on that group's roster until you join
Your own training records, deployments, and health records are not shared with a group. Joining a group doesn't give anyone access to them.
FACE ID AND PASSCODE LOCK
Deployed can optionally lock the app behind Face ID or your device passcode. This uses Apple's on-device authentication system directly — Deployed never receives, sees, or stores any biometric data. Apple handles that entirely within iOS.
SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PAYMENT
Deployed subscriptions are sold and processed entirely through the Apple App Store. We never receive or store your payment card details — Apple handles billing, and its own privacy policy governs that transaction.
ANALYTICS AND ADVERTISING
Deployed contains no advertising, no advertising identifiers, and no analytics or usage-tracking software. We have no way to see how you use the app beyond the records you choose to sync.
YOUR CONTROL OVER YOUR DATA
You can view, edit, export (as PDF, CSV, or Word), or delete any record at any time from within the app. Deleting the app removes all of its local data from your device.
Deleting your account. Team Settings → Delete account permanently removes your cloud account, your cloud backup, and your training-group memberships. This can't be undone. Training groups you created continue to exist for their remaining members, no longer attributed to you.
Deleting your account does not delete the records on your phone — the app keeps working offline and you can still export everything. That's deliberate: losing an account shouldn't cost you your K9's training history. To remove the local copy as well, delete a record from within the app, or delete the app itself.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Deployed is a professional tool built for working K9 handlers and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date at the top. A material change — anything that changes what data we collect or how it's used — will be called out clearly the next time you open the app, not buried in a date change.
